AAROHANA 2023 Abhyudaya, a project of Keshava Kripa Samvardhana Samithi, organised Aarohana competitions on 31/12/2023 at Rastrothana Vidya Kendra, Banashankari, Bangalore. Aarohana is a platform provided to socially deprived students to exhibit their talents.
Around 2500 students participated in 8 competitions, namely- Bhagavadgeetha, Clay modelling, Science experiments, Patriotic song, Mimicry, Pick and Speak, Drama and Monoacting.
This event was supported by around 700 volunteers, nearly 100 of whom dedicated their volunteering hours intensively 24 hours before the event to setting up and decorating the stage and selfie booth, arranging tables for science experiments and games, also overall preparations for the mega event.
Nearly 75 buses were arranged for the transportation of the students and volunteers from various parts of urban and rural Bangalore, Tumkur, Ramanagara and Chikballapur districts. The management efforts of the volunteers made it possible to maintain the parking of around 200+ vehicles. Due to the on-time presence and perseverance of volunteers, the registration of around 3200 students and volunteers went on smoothly.
Aarohana was inaugurated with the invocation of Vedic chant by Abhyudaya students, the program was preceded by Shri. K C Ramamurthy, chairman, CMR Janardhana Trust, Shri Gopinath K, international para sportsperson, Shri Ganapathi Hegde, Secretary, KKSS. The dignitaries addressed the students by motivating them to succeed in academics as well as the challenges of life.
The main attraction of the program was the display of science experiments covering acid rain, volcano eruption, water treatment, Acid and bases, solar energy and conservation of the environment. The creativity of the students was visible in clay modelling- the statue of Adi Yogi, rural life, Rama Mandira, birds and animals, Chandrayan and so on.
The Drama team exhibited talent in showcasing the themes such as good driving habits and cybercrime prevention. In between the competitions, students had the opportunity to participate in several short games coordinated by volunteers of Oracle and running quiz conducted by Abhyudaya volunteers.
First aid and ambulance arrangements were made as a medical precaution.
Around 200 jury members worked extensively to assess and declare the winners across all these competitions so that the prize distribution event could be arranged soon after the competitions. Around 220 medals and certificates were awarded. All the students as volunteers were given return gifts including a drawstring bag consisting of notebooks and necessary stationery and Abhyudaya 2024 calendar.
Quality/tasty breakfast and lunch were served to all the students and volunteers. The food was served on banana leaves on steel plates to avoid landfill. The eco-friendly arrangements were made to minimize the use of plastic throughout the event. The hygiene of the place was maintained by the volunteers’ effort to clean the used plates with minimum usage of water.
The centre of attraction of the program was the selfie booth where every participant had the opportunity to take a selfie and capture the memory of Aarohana 2023. Just before the prize distribution a historical drama – Sri Kirshna Sandhana, was accurately depicted by the participants.
All the donors and organizations who contributed to this Mega event were acknowledged.
After this mega event, volunteers actively participated in Swachatha (cleaning the campus) and felt the success of this mega event. Abhyudaya volunteers and jury members enjoyed this mega event as much if not more than students.
